Learning objectives

Participants will learn about the types of genetic tests that can be recommended during IVF treatment for female patients, the optimal timing for conducting these tests, and, most importantly, which groups of patients may benefit most from them. Participants will become familiar with the data curation process, its implications and possibilities. Validated genes associated with specific infertility phenotypes and available treatment options will also be discussed.

Course description

The Female Reproductive Genetics Initiative (FeRGI) comprises professionals in MAR, who aim to improve professional expertise and patient care in the field of female infertility. One of FeRGI’s goals is to educate professionals about recent developments and provide them with good practice guidelines. This webinar series aims to introduce advanced genetic tests to identify the causes of monogenic female infertility. We will guide the participants in choosing genetic tests for the infertility phenotype at the correct time. We will then introduce the curation data process for a gene panel design. Lastly, available treatment options will be discussed for patients with causative variants.

Needs assessment

The webinar will guide participants on selecting appropriate genetic tests, the inclusion and exclusion criteria for these tests and the development of a curated gene panel for clinical investigation of monogenic female infertility, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of targeted sequencing, in silico panels and whole-genome sequencing.
