Course description
An update on the use of minimally invasive surgery to manage infertility which occurs either spontaneously or prior to ART. The workshop will be combined with the GESEA-ECRES, a certification programme for gynaecological endoscopy offered jointly by the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE) and ESHRE. This educational pathway provides a unique training opportunity for reproductive surgeons in laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and ultrasound in infertile patients. Clinicians will learn the best strategies for diagnosing and treating uterine congenital anomalies, severe forms of endometriosis, and other uterine disorders. They will also gain new insights into mastering all aspects of minimally invasive surgery such as camera navigation, hand-eye coordination and suturing. What’s more, the GESEA-ECRES certification will establish their status as reproductive surgeons and enable them to join an elite group of specialists.
Target audience
Gynaecologists with a special interest in reproductive surgery
Educational needs and expected educational outcomes
Course participants will gain GESEA-ECRES training and certification (level 1 and 2). The workshop will appraise the effectiveness of hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgery, which are considered the “gold standard” for the management of infertility-associated surgical pathology. Clinicians will learn how to identify which patients will benefit from minimal invasive surgery to achieve a pregnancy either spontaneously or via ART. Training will be provided in laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and ultrasound for gynaecologists a special interest in reproductive surgery. The GESEA-ECRES programme delivered during the workshop will validate their laparoscopic and hysteroscopic skills, to establish their status as reproductive surgeons.
Innovative aspects of the course
The workshop will update current knowledge in the diagnosis and management of infertility-associated pathology and provide new insights into the anatomy of the uterus. It will use ultrasound and pelvic trainer devices to provide practical exercises in laparoscopy-hysteroscopy; and certification in psychomotor skills in the uterine environment such as hand-eye coordination.
