As the use of medically assisted reproduction (MAR) evolves, so do the complexities surrounding access, equity, and outcomes. This campus will explore several key issues: discrimination, donor selection, genetics, and psychological aspects. By integrating perspectives from diverse disciplines, this meeting seeks to provide new insights into disparities in MAR; and strategies for creating a more equitable and inclusive reproductive healthcare system.
Target audience
Sociologists, geneticists, psychologists, physicians, embryologists, nurses and other health professionals involved in assisted reproduction.
Educational needs and expected educational outcomes
The course will provide practical insights into how genetic counsellors, psychologists and other health professionals can address unfair treatment in IVF consultations; and ensure inclusive care for all patients.
By the end of the course, participants should be equipped with the knowledge, skills, and ethical frameworks needed to address and reduce inequalities and racial disparities in MAR , ultimately contributing to a fairer healthcare system.
Innovative aspects of the course
Different barriers in various aspects of infertility care will be analysed in depth. These include cross-border reproduction, LGBTQIA+ individuals, economic justice and genetic practices. The course will engage participants in real-world applications, fostering a deeper understanding and commitment to reducing disparities in MAR.
