Course description
This precongress course aims to provide a comprehensive overview of established clinical and laboratory practices in fertility preservation with a focus on gonadal cryopreservation and transplantation. The program will focus on practical aspects, as well as on current challenges and outcomes in both female and male patients. We will also open the discussion to the perspectives and future alternatives of these techniques

Target audience
Embryologists and clinicians involved in fertility preservation

Educational needs and expected outcomes

  • Interactive survey/quiz during the presentations to discuss the participants’ current practices
  • Q&A session
  • Survey of participants at the end of the course
  • Publication of the slides

After attending the course, participants will be able to

  • Optimise the laboratory and clinical practice in fertility preservation
  • Discuss the optimal gonadal cryopreservation procedures and issues related to each technique
  • Discuss the current knowledge regarding the outcomes of the transplantation procedures

Innovative aspects of the course
Progress and research in this field is rapid and requires constant updating to optimise procedures. As more centres offer these options, it is important for the SIG to discuss the current limitations and controversies in the field, with a particular focus on good laboratory and daily practice. New data will be presented that may have a direct impact on the participants’ clinical practice.
