Course description
Providing and receiving hope in ART is crucial for patients and providers. However we need to find a balance between keeping hope vs preparing for failure.
The aim of this course is to have a deeper understanding of the consecuences of overpersistence in ART, how to manage patients expectations and how to communicate with patients about their prognosis.

 

Target audience
Psychologists, counsellors, medical doctors and nurses.

 

Educational needs and expected outcomes
This is the first PCC that is oriented in finding a balance between the hope that is given by new procedures, or techniques, or tests in ART, and real situations after failure. We need to know how to help our patients, even if we/they fail.
  • To learn how to manage bad numbers and how to prepare patiens for failure
  • To learn how to manage expectactions among the fertility team and among patients
  • To learn what helps and what doesn't help during treatment
  • To learn how to reinvent hope in different situations
