Course description
The course will provide the most cutting edge scientific knowledge on how to manage infertile women with features outside the "normal range" and on how to face non-conventional circumstances in daily IVF clinical practice.
Target audience
Reproductive endocrinology physicians and nurses
Educational needs and expected outcomes
In standard conditions, IVF practice is now firmly grounded in the best evidence. In contrast, a proportion of patients or clinical conditions stray from the conventional path, and often represent a dilemma. The percentage of these exceptions to the rule is constantly increasing due to social, antropological and behavioural changes occurring in the last years. This course "The highs and lows in IVF" aims at filling the gap between science and practice in such challenging areas of assisted reproduction and infertility. As the theme implies, there will be an exciting exchange of ideas around the optimal management of the "extremes" in IVF: hyper and low responders, advanced age, underweight and overweight women.
Beyond the patient characteristics, this course will also address important issues related to some therapeutic backgrounds, such as cost/benefit ratio of high technology procedures and ovarian stimulation protocols, aiming at expediting improved medical treatment.
