“COVID-19 stormed into our lives, disrupting our routine and providing many unexpected challenges. I, for one, got redeployed going back in time to ‘delivering’ babies rather than ‘creating’ them as a reproductive specialist. From showing a tiny would-be baby in form of an embryo before embryo transfer to showing an actual baby at Caesarean section to the proud parents. My role has diversified but the joy it brings has been amplified, despite this pandemic.
On a personal level, I have seen the biggest effect on my 17-year-old daughter to whom I lent the ‘listening ear’. She is facing her own challenges with her high school final A-level grade exams being cancelled - but more importantly, from her perspective, the loss of her dream to dress up and attend the school leaving prom and to celebrate her 18th birthday in lockdown.”
