Aim of accreditation of training centre
Reproductive Medicine subspecialist require highly specialised education and skills to be capable providing adequate clinical treatment to the patients. Specialist training involves acquisition of theoretical knowledge, training in practical skills via a syllabus and logbook, competence assessments and continuous professional development. Specialist examinations, approved by professional bodies (nationally and internationally), can verify the quality of practical training
Established trainers acknowledge that training a subspecialist involves:
• Improving knowledge, practice, teaching, research, and audit
• Applying internationally recognised standards for subspecialist training
• Coordinating and promoting collaboration and organisation of the service
• Providing leadership in the development and research within the subspecialty
The aim of training certification is to harmonise training programmes, knowledge and competence levels among practitioners and by this improve the care of patients with disorders of reproductive function in collaboration with other care providers.
In a time when Europe urges for increased mobility of professionals and more cooperation between colleagues and institutions, certification from a recognised society like ESHRE, known by high educational standards, under umbrella of EBCOG and UEMS, means professional recognition beyond country borders.
Every year, during Annual Meeting opening ceremony, ESHRE will announce publicly which centre, out of all certified training centres was scored as best, serving as a mark of excellence.
