• Some commercially available culture media are based on a ”back to nature”
– All ingredients in a concentration which is close to the in vivo conditions
• In terms of implantation/ pregnancy rates they are not shown to outperform other types of culture media
Sequential media
• That fact that zygotes and embryos change metabolism and uptake/secretion during development, has lead to the concept of sequential media:
– Fertilization/zygotemedium – Cleavagestagemedium
– “Blastocyst”medium
