Benefits of semen washing
• Semen washing is an effective method to prevent transmission in men who are:-.
→ Unwilling to initiate anti retroviral therapy → Non compliant to therapy
→ Not virally suppressed
• 1/3rd of men in Sub-Saharan region are not virally suppressed in spite of taking anti-retrovirals.
• 48% of men with undetectable viral load in plasma, have detectable virus in their semen
