Learning objectives
After this lecture attendees will be familiar with data showing that:
• Mosaicism does not affect all human embryos
• Next-gen sequencing allows sensitive mosaicism detection in TE biopsies
• Mosaicism is unaffected by advancing female age
• Some mosaic embryos have the capacity to produce viable pregnancies
• Frequency of mosaicism is affected by patient and clinic factors
Attendees will also be aware of ideas about:
• Normalization of mosaic embryos
• Clinical relevance of mosaicism for the use of PGT-A
Chromosomal abnormalities in early human development
• Aneuploidy is common in human preimplantation embryos • Principal cause of pregnancy loss (Hassold et al., 1980)
