• Poor lab. air quality is recognized hazard to the culture of human gametes and embryos ( Heitmann 2015, Agarwal 2017, Morbeck 2015)
• Careful consideration should be given to the site & location and air filtration system of the IVF lab. to avoid the infiltration of the toxicants (VOCs-chemical airborn contaminants-CACs) to the lab, the incubator and ultimately the culture media
• To effectively isolate gametes&embryos from the gaseous environment;
Use of low odour specilized paints and avoidance of sealants and toxic glues Positive pressure airflow coupled with the use of air purification systems Appropriate in-line filters for incubators
VOCs can be emitted by consumables, so a VOC meter to establish off-gassing time of consumables(including packaging) is recommended. Keeping culture wares in a seperate lab.under an air flow overnight may facilitate the safe emmission of VOCs
