Luteal phase physiology after COS
• Supraphysiological steroid level of estradiol and progesterone in early-mid luteal phase exerts a negative feed-back on the hypothalamic-pituitary axis reducing LH secretion in early luteal phase.
(Tavaniotou and Devroey, 2006; Tavaniotou et al., 2001)
• GnRHa triggering leads to significantly reduced total amounts of gonadotropins (LH and FSH) released by the pituitary due to profile and duration of surge
(Gonen et al., 1990; Itskovitz et al., 1991)
