2 WOI: search for novel markers
2.4 The future1 : Proteomics and Secretomics
- First studies in '80s: variations of ions and proteins (single) throughout cycle - Secretome is a complex matrix
proteins, amino acids, electrolytes, glucose, urea, cytokines, growth factors, metalloproteinases and their inhibitors, immunoglobulins, a-1 antitrypsin precursor, haptoglobin, and transferrin
- mediators of endometrial receptivity
- maintenance and nurturing of ascending spermatozoa - maintenance and nurturing of pre-implantation embryo
MAJOR ADVANTAGES
- Non-invasive
- Aspirate just prior to embryo transfer (with no effect on IVF outcome)
- Aspirate of flushing
- Secretion better represents global uterine condition compared with biopsies
