Sperm preparation – anno 2017
Take home message
Swim‐up technique and discontinuous density gradient centrifugation are main stream sperm preparation techniques
No clear evidence which technique is superior over the other
If concentration and motility are within the normal ranges direct swim‐up technique can be used
Density gradient centrifugation leads to a higher recovery of motile sperm cells and is to be used for OAT samples
Density gradient centrifugation can be adapted according to neat semen quality

Sperm preparation – anno 2017
Take home message
Fine tuning of techniques will improve outcomes Quality control and quality management is mandatory
More research is needed to define if which techniques are superior in terms of fertilisation and pregnancy outcomes
