Conclusions
CASA has enormous potential for human clinical analyses
Traditional human semen analysis has very little prognostic value
for success, so we should assess sperm function.
We should not use CASA for applications that are inherently problematic for the underlying technology, and focus on what it CAN do.
CASA for clinical sperm analysis:
Concentration of seminal sperm with mucus‐penetrating kinematics
Washed sperm preparation analysis: Concentration and motility classes.
Fertilizing ability: Evaluate sperm hyperactivation, an ability that is essential for fertilization, both in vivo and in vitro.
Emerging tests: Morphology, vitality, acrosome reaction, DNA fragmentation, etc
