COURSE DESCRIPTION: The course focuses on surgical challenges facing modern reproductive surgeons. The emphasis is on how to deal with difficult situations encountered during surgery. In addition to didactic lectures by a number of distinguished speakers, the course will include lively interactive discussion and debate of a selection of cases.
TARGET AUDIENCE: The course is particularly suitable for reproductive surgeons who wish to find out how experienced colleagues deal with challenges in reproductive surgery. It is also suitable for trainee reproductive surgeons who would like to improve their confidence by preparing themselves for unexpected challenges.
EDUCATIONAL NEEDS AND EXPECTED OUTCOMES: Every surgeon will be expected to come across, from time to time, unexpected difficulties during operation. There is a need to better prepare surgeons how to optimally manage these situations. The expected educational outcomes include improvement in confidence in dealing with unexpected difficulties, making the correct decision at time of stress and knowing the tips and tricks to minimise complications. The main impact will be on the application of appropriate skills in dealing with challenging surgical scenarios.
