COURSE 9
Sunday, 14 June I Room: Coimbra (FIL - Pavilion 3)
Early pregnancy and the role of stem cells
Organised by the Special Interest Groups Stem Cells and Early Pregnancy
COURSE COORDINATORS: Rita Vassena (Spain), Siobhan Quenby (United Kingdom) and Mariëtte Goddijn (The Netherlands) COURSE TYPE: Mixed (basic and advanced)
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This Pre-congress Course will provide an update of the clinical picture of early pregnancy complications and the stem cell types involved in early pregnancy. The course will provide both scientist and reproductive specialist with new knowledge obtained in stem cell research. Can we use stem cells to model the pathophysiology of early pregnancy? What have we learned from their use? Can we foresee a therapeutic use of stem cells in early pregnancy issues? There will be a lively debate on the question of whether stem cells can be a realistic option to solve e.g. Asherman syndrome as a complication of curettage for miscarriage. Interaction between speakers and audience will be encouraged.
TARGET AUDIENCE: Reproductive endocrinologists, reproductive scientists, gynaecologists, fertility specialists, basic scientists, stem cell researchers, biologists and physicians with an interest in the interplay between endometrium and the embryo.
