Key Points for the role of an embryologist in embryo transfer
1. Use of an Embryo Transfer Checklist ensures that the highest standards of care and patient safety are maintained for all steps:
✓ When documentation and culture dishes are prepared on the day before transfer
✓ When embryo evaluation, selection and catheter loading are performed and patient identity is confirmed the day of transfer
2. Clear communication between the embryologist and physician is essential regarding:
✓How many embryos to transfer
✓ Confirmation of patient identification
✓ All steps before, during and after the transfer
3. Documentation, confirmation and communication are key!!
