 Vaccination in pregnancy
• Vaccination in pregnancy provides protection against vaccine‐preventable diseases to the mother and to the child through the transfer of maternal antibodies across the placenta and by breastfeeding.
• Passive antibodies may protect the fetus from maternal in utero or intra partum infection, providing protection until when the child will reach the age to be vaccinated.
 Vaccination during pregnancy
• Vaccination during pregnancy requires the advantages for the mother and for the child to be carefully weighted against the risks to mother and child.
• Any side‐effects produced in the mother may also constitute a serious damage to the child.
