Differences of immune response in women and man
Women have an enhanced response to vaccination
Women have an increased incidence of autoimmune disorders
Women have an increased incidence of autoimmune disorders during reproductive years
Women are challenged by immune response to placental allo‐antigens
Women are exposed to haematic alloantigens during pregnancy and at deliveryto
Women are temperamental and their immune system too
The significant contribution of sex to modulating vaccine-induced immunity has gained attention over the last years. Specifically, females typically develop higher antibody responses and experience more adverse events following vaccination than males. This enhanced immune reactogenicity among females is thought to render females more resistant to infectious diseases, but conversely might also contribute to higher incidence of autoimmunity among women.
