CERVICAL FACTOR ASSESSMENT Abnormalities of cervical mucus production or sperm/mucus interaction rarely are the sole or principal cause of infertility. The post‐coital testing of cervical mucus ‐ subjective ‐ poorly reproducible ‐ inconvenient to the patient, ‐ rarely changes clinical management ‐ does not predict inability to con‐ ceive and SHOULD NOT BE INCLUDED IN THE EVALUATION OF THE INFERTILE FEMALE. NICE Guidelines NO RELIABLE TESTS CURRENTLY EXIST TO INVESTIGATE THE FUNCTION OF THE CERVIX Martyn et al., 2014 Endometrial receptivity diagnosis Cytokines • Various biochemical factors like cytokines, leukemia inhibitory factor, interleukin-1 and some chemokines (e.g. CX3CL1, CCL14) may be involved in endometrial receptivity. • Alterations of these factors in the endometrium can cause subfertility. • There are no standard tests to detect these defects Salleh N et al, Scientific World Journal 2014; Dimitriadis E et al, Int J Dev Biol 2010 36 PRECONGRESS COURSE 09 I VIENNA, AUSTRIA – 23 JUNE 2019 39
