Systematic review found that despite reproductive-aged young adults desiring children, majority:1
• Lack information about age-related fertility decline & infertility risk factors • Have low-to-moderate fertility awareness
– Greater fertility awareness seen among women, more educated persons, people reporting difficulty conceiving, & those who planned their pregnancies
Men aged 18-50 (from online survey, Canada)2 • Have poor knowledge about male infertility
– 51% correctly identified male infertility-related risk factors & 45% health issues
• 58% wanted more information about male infertility & reproductive health
• Preferred cited information sources
– Medical professionals 66% – Online resources 58%
• Low awareness of highly effective contraception methods vs. condoms, pills, patch
• Failing knowledge scores for any contraception method other than condom
