 Conclusions & Comments
• Diagnosis of CE still depends upon the method used.
• The current diagnostic gold standard for CE is histology (PC detection).
• Hysteroscopy shows the best PPV (97.4%)
• Definition and knoledge of diagnostic criteria improves the physicians’ ability to recognize CE.
• Microbial culture is able to identify the culturable microorganisms present in the endometrial tissue.
• However, some CE‐ causing bacteria such as Ureaplasma Species, M. hominis and G. vaginalis are not culturable in standard laboratory conditions, which leads to false‐negative results and/or contamination bias.
• Molecular microbiology provides reliable information on the intrauterine microbiota as it detects also not culturabel bacteria and then it could help in choosing correct antibiotic treatment.
• At the monent insuffcient clinical data to propose molecular microbiology for the diagnosis of CE.
