Abortive apoptosis
• Apoptosis: Remove abnormal cells (Sertoli cells in testis)
• In testis, abnormal male germ cells may arise due to
– Defects in spermatogenesis
– DNA damages induced by exogenous insult,
• If the system does not operate efficiently , damaged cells
may escape apoptosis.
• Spermatozoa are transcriptionally inactive, they lose their capacity to undergo programmed cell death
