Endometriosis – a disease associated with pain and reduced fertility
• presence of endometrial tissue outside of the cavum uteri
• estrogen-dependent disease
• main symptoms: pelvic pain, dysmenorrhoea, dyspareunia
• about 5-10% of women may suffer from endometriosis
• 35- 50% correlation between pelvic pain and infertility in endometriosis!
