 Incubator
• The choice and use of incubators to maintain both the pH of the medium and temperature for optimal development of embryos is very critical
Functional aspects;
• Gas capability, sensor type , temperature control, size/patient capacity. Smaller incubator units(benchtop/topload) result in faster gas & temperature recovery
• Low O2 capability for optimal culture environment, and IR CO2 probe preferably for units those units that mix the gases to permit fastest CO2 recovery
Practical issues;
• Cost and space
• Proper no.& type to support a lab.’s caseload must be determined on a lab-by-lab. basis. A mix incubation type; both large/small box, benchtop/topload would help covering multiple schenarios
