Progesterone receptor (PR) modulation
• PR plays essential role in uterine physiology and reproduction.
• Selective progesterone receptor modulators (SPRMs) emerged as treatment options for hormone dependent conditions e.g.uterine fibroids with major impact on women’s quality of life and may impact fertility.
• Pharmacological effects of SPRMs on endometrium: anti- proliferative action and suppression of bleeding.
• Specific histological changes in endometrium induced by SPRMs (PAEC; Progesterone receptor modulator Associated Endometrial Changes)
• Knowledge gap concerning mechanism of action.
Mechanism of Action of PR ligands (SPRMs) in women with HMB / Uterine Fibroids
Spectrum of progesterone receptor modulators from agonist to antagonist
