Quality control programme of the German Society of Andrology (QuaDeGA)
QuaDeGA programme:
Interlaboratory test runs twice per year with
● two fixed semen samples (A and B) for determining
sperm concentration and morphology,
● online video recordings for assessment of sperm
motility.
QuaDeGA evaluation:
● electronic transmission of results,
● graphic display of results in Youden plots,
● determination of the target window using the median
values of all participants working to WHO standards, ● ranking of participants.

Consequences of quality control
External
quality assurance
● If a laboratory does not receive the certicifate, the cause must be clarified and eliminated.
Internal
quality assurance
● If the retrospective analysis shows any trends, the cause has to be clarified.
● If the mean value of all differences is greater than the control value, further results can only be used for clinical diagnosis after the cause has been clarified and eliminated.
