Metformin (1500mg) Reduces IVF Related Risk of OHSS in Women with PCOS
RCT of addition of metformin (M, 500mg TID) to gonadotropins (G) versus G + placebo in women with PCOS undergoing IVF (n=120).
Significantly reduced RR of OHSS with M use: RR 0.28 (95% CI:0.11-0.67).
Length of ovarian stimulation & total amount of G used were significantly higher, but peak E(2) levels were significantly reduced with addition of Metformin.
