Embryonic stem cells
Derived from the inner cell mass of the blastocyst (ICM) (day 5- 7 of development,
 150-200 cells). They give rise to the 3 germ layers: ectoderm, mesoderm and endoderm.

Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) generation
• The first iPS cell line was generated with 24 factors. (Takahashi K & Yamanaka, 2006)
• The Classical 4 factors cocktail: Oct4/3,Sox2,c-myc&KlF4 or
O c t 4 / 3 , So x 2 , Li n 2 8 & N a n o g (Takahashi K & Yamanaka S., 2006, Takahashi K et al, 2007, Yu et al, 2007Park et al,2008)
