Learning objectives
1. The audience should be aware that there is no consensus on the criteria to justify public funding of activities / choices / interventions.
2. Public funding places the focus on the principle of justice but other principles and values should also be included in the final balance.
3. Public reimbursement cannot be asked for as a unilateral obligation of the government. Public funding generates obligations for practitioners and for patients.
