Organelle and cytoskeleton dynamics
 Abundant transcripts and proteins are produced and stored in oocytes during growth to function during completion of meiosis, fertilization, embryonic cell divisions, zygotic gene activation, and early embryogenesis.
 During oocyte maturation from GV to MII major changes occur in:
o structure, function and distribution of all major organelles o Cortical mechanics and polarisation
o Cytoskeleton dynamics
o Spindle repositioning
