Human oocyte legacy and clinical implications
● Present day human assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs) draw upon COH that may compromise competencies
● The introduction of ICSI, egg and embryo cryopreservation, and extended embryo culture raise questions regarding processing of legacy components after fertilization
● A complex array of endocrine, paracrine, and juxtacrine signaling pathways executed prior to ovulation impose competencies that impact embryo development and implantation.
