Dear ESHRE members,

After successful meetings and interactions with partners during ESHRE’s Annual Meeting in July, the EuMAR project continues at full steam monitoring the pilot study, disseminating the patient survey and preparing the work of the final year of the project. Read below about our past and future work!

What is the EuMAR pilot study?

The EuMAR pilot study started in July 2024 with the aim to test the submission of cycle-by-cycle data from MAR centres and national registers from four EU countries. The study also tests the request of the Individual Reproductive Care Codes (IRCCs) and the ClinicSwitch Codes for patients.

EuMAR patient codes

👈 To learn more about the patient codes used in the EuMAR registry and how they make it possible to collect cumulative and cross-border data in an anonymised way, we invite you to read our informative leaflet.

Pilot countries?

The EuMAR pilot countries are Germany and Portugal, where we are testing the submission of data from the national registry and Estonia and Slovenia, where we are receiving treatment data directly from MAR centres.

Pilot study monitoring

Since the pilot study began in July, over 23,000 IRCCs have been requested, highlighting the collaborative efforts of MAR professionals, national competent authorities, IT partners, and the EuMAR team.

EuMAR stakeholder engagement: an analysis of medically assisted reproduction (MAR) data collection practices in EU countries

The pilot study was preceded by the work of EuMAR’s WP3 and the support of national stakeholders to establish data flow models that take into account the different data collection practices in EU countries. Interviews with national competent authorities and registry managers from 26 EU member states have been summarised in a paper published in Human Reproduction.

The EuMAR registry ultimately aims to improve patient care. We are running a short survey to collect patients’ views on fertility treatment data collections. The survey is available in several EU languages which can be selected in the top right corner of the introduction section.

We invite you to help us share the patient survey with your network so that we can get as many responses as possible.

Like and share our latest social media posts and access to the survey.

The Project Steering Committee met in Brussels in October 2024 to begin planning the work for 2025, the end of the project. A busy new year lies ahead as the EuMAR team focuses on analysing the results of the pilot study, revising the list of parameters and planning for the sustainability and consolidation of the EuMAR registry.
